About the Malawi Playground Project

Here is a little more information about our specific trip. This trip is phase 3 of the Malawi Playground Project.

Erin Hempen, AFC Trip Leader

This AFC trip, July 12 through July 23, will be the culmination of a year long project that will bring a state of the art playground to the children of Mtendere Village in Malawi. Volunteers will be working hard to assemble the playground and to create a place for the children to be able to play together safely, while also giving them a structure that will promote not only physical growth, but emotional growth as well. This playground will be the first of its kind brought to Mtendere Village.

AFC volunteers will also continue to help with ongoing projects at Mtendere and work closely with the children. Volunteers will plan art projects and play sports in the afternoon, while mornings will be spent focusing on the playground construction. The trip will end with a ribbon cutting ceremony where the playground will be officially given to the children of Mtendere. This will be a trip full of hard work and a lot of amazing time with the kids. While in Malawi, volunteers will also have the chance to visit Lake Malawi and the Mvuu Camp for a safari adventure.
